Blog 10 Kilwer

In the Kliewer article Mia noticed that she didn't like the classes she was taking. She had to go thru special education her whole life. She wanted to take classes that interested her.

I agree with Mia. I hate taking classes that are not interesting to me. It makes the semester and days go by so slow. Mia felt mad and like she wanted to cry. I don't feel that way unless its math class. Math classes bore me and I cant stand math and it stresses me out so much.

Success in life requires ability to form relationships with others who make up the web of community. We all have to learn how to get along with others. If we don't get along with others our lives would be miserable. Just think about it. I know most of us probably have had coworkers that we can not stand and once you don't get along going to work is a struggle. Even when we don't like each other we should still try to get along with one another. It will make your lives better.

Shoshone is a parent run school. It educates children birth to 6 years old. Student population reflects the diversity.

In the article it mentioned portfolios. In the portfolios the things included are children's work, notes by the teachers, assessment info and narratives written for conferences with parents. I think that keeping a portfolio is so important. Some people at my daycare that are teachers don't even hand me portfolios when they move up into my room. Which makes me having to do extra work because they have NOTHING in their portfolios. It makes me so mad and frustrated because I even go to school and keep up with all my school work while doing lesson plans and teaching children and they work full time there and cant put together a portfolio of the children in their classroom.

In the article at the end it said that "Just because your handicapped doesn't mean you cant learn" which is true. I find it so mean when people judge handicapped people. They are human beings just like you. It doesn't mean that they are stupid or cant do what you cant do. They may be limited to things but they can do things just like you can do.

For those who also want to be teachers, heres what to include in a portfolio.
It isn't as hard as it sounds, once you start it, it gets really easy.
If your program allows you TAKE PICTURES!!!! pictures with a learning caption is awesome to have. When the child leaves the center the parents have something to look back on, the child also has something to look back on.

When you do a portfolio it shows parents that you are not just always playing.
